  • 1. What is the MINDS Film Festival (MFF)?

    Since its inception in 2016, the MINDS Film Festival (MFF) has become an important platform to share powerful, interwoven stories on Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs). 

      

    Jointly presented by MINDS and the Singapore Film Society (SFS), the annual event aims to create awareness and understanding of Intellectual Disability, spark conversations and encourage the community to step forward to advocate for social inclusion.  

      

    The event alternates between ticketed screenings in the theatres and free community screenings in the heartlands to encourage greater participation. To date, MFF has presented over 40 international films and engaged with close to 5,000 members of the audience. 

  • 2. When and where will MFF 2025 take place?

    MFF 2025 kicks off with an Partners' Night screening on 26 September at Temasek Shophouse (by invite only).

    Public screenings will be held over two weekends:


    • 27 & 28 September
    • 4 & 5 October

    Screenings will take place at several accessible heartland venues:


    • Enabling Village
    • Jurong Regional Library
    • One Punggol
    • Temasek Shophouse
    • Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre (HYC)
    • Woodlands Regional Library

  • 3. What films will be featured at MFF 2025?

    This year’s festival features two international films:


    • The Manor (山莊日記) from Hong Kong
    • Paper Bag Plan from the United States

    Each film offers a unique and moving perspective on the lives, challenges, and experiences of persons with special needs, celebrating their resilience and humanity.

  • 4. Are the films suitable for all ages?

    The films are generally suitable for a wide audience, but do note the film ratings and descriptions to discern if it’s appropriate for you and anyone you would like to bring along. 


    The Manor (山莊日記) – PG13 (Some Mature Content 内容只宜十三岁及以上)


    Paper Bag Plan – PG (Some Coarse Language 些许粗俗语言)


    The festival is open to the public, and we encourage attendance from families, educators, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the experiences of persons with special needs.

  • 5. Will there be subtitles for non-English films?

    All screenings of Paper Bag Plan will have English subtitles.

    All screenings of The Manor (山莊日記) will have both English and Chinese subtitles.

  • 6. Can persons with special needs attend the festival?

    Absolutely. Persons with special needs are warmly welcome at MINDS Film Festival 2025. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all attendees.


    Our screening venues are walk-in friendly, and attendees are free to enter or leave at any time. The spaces are designed to be open, well-lit, and not fully darkened or enclosed, ensuring comfort for a variety of access needs.
